Top 10 tips for creating a successful event!

We hope you find Mosaic Events blogs useful and like to provide tips and information to share with you to help you organise the best event you can, please find below ten tips to help you to create this!

1. Be clear of your event budget from the start and throughout the planning process and stick to it! Ensure you negotiate the best rates possible with venues perhaps you don’t need bacon sandwiches and croissants on arrival so ask if these can be removed from your package to lower your costs

2. Promote your event early – as soon as you have a date, venue, topic and name for your event start promoting event even if the final programme is still to be finalised you want to get the date in people’s diaries as soon as possible

3. Use social media! Use social media for your event – start a group for event on Linked In, create a hash tag for the event on Twitter and start an event on your Facebook page even blog about the event- promote key speakers/key elements/new features of the event to create further interest

4. Liaise with your speakers throughout the organisation process confirm they are aware of what is expected of them, their speaking time, their requirements for the presentation and any changes to this

5.  Show value for money – if you are unable to offer the event free of charge keep the price reasonable and in line with other similar events – offer value for money – list the key benefits to delegates so they can justify to their colleagues why they should/need to attend

6. Do something different! – Have a live voting session at the event; include an award presentation, live twitter question and answer as part of your usual question and answer session

7. Meet at the venue and meet the team running your event in advance – try the food, make sure the staff are helpful, attentive and prompt, this way you can iron our any problems or concerns before the day

8. Be organised! – prepare for all eventualities – have a back up presentation in case one of your speakers doesn’t turn up or is ill at the last minute, ensure you are first aid trained or you are aware of the contact at the venue in case of any accidents – have spare badges and packs for any last minute attendees who have not pre registered

9. Make the event enjoyable for all attending! Make sure the venue is suitable and food is suitable for the price delegates are paying and works well with your event and numbers – would bowl food work better than a seated two course lunch

10. Gain feedback from attendees – this is vital if you wish to repeat the event or just to gain feedback that you may not have been aware of while running the event
